This is a very rare version of an increasingly desirable and valuable model. The previous owner had vinyl upholstery installed over the original cloth upholstery. I imported several parts, have had bodywork and paint done, mechanical work, etc. The rear seat base upholstery has some splits and there are a few minor cosmetic items which a new owner might wish to change, but the car is correct and very sound. I have the original handbook and service records going back a couple of decades. This is a glamorous looking car, from the second last year of production. Areas of criticism: A concern with any English import is rust. It has been a star of many displays and always attracts admiration for its authenticity and quality of construction. I have done some other things but its really too much to list so I am happy to discuss the car at length with any potential buyers out there. No rust or any major defect, in excellent condition. For the aficionados yes the Abarth body work is incorrectly applied to a 4 door body, but its a replica you can use, well executed, convincing, and the period graphics make this car stand out from the crowd. It has a new radiator, 5 new wheels, new front wheel cylinders and a new exhaust. Approx half of the 70 cars were equipped with the undesirable SMG1 gearbox, and a good % of the manual cars were in quirky BMW Individual colours, making this desirable black on black full manual a rare car. I have owned this vehicle for the past eight years, it has always been garaged and has only travelled 153,000km.
The owner advises that the car has no significant rust, and there are sections of the underbody which have been plated. This factory RHD car was imported from the UK in 1988 by a well-known enthusiast. Documentation with the car includes the original UK service book and service history through various owners to current. The split folding rear seat was a novelty in the early 70s. It shows 25,000 miles on the odometer, presumably 125,000. The chrome, lights and other ancillaries present very well.
